Hello, my name is Teresa Petersen, LCSW, I am EMDR Certified.
Do you sometimes feel "stuck" in the past, destructive behavior patterns, unhealthy relationships, or in negative self-talk and disturbing believes about yourself? Do you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or betrayed by your mind and/or your body? Feel like you will never reach your goals in life? I want you to know there is hope and together we can change this.
These issues can come from many different situations, such as adverse childhood experiences, trauma, complex loss and grief and more. I have worked with many clients who have overcome similar challenges, who are no longer just surviving, but now fully living and thriving in their lives. Now you're ready for change, but still it takes a lot of courage to initiate a therapeutic relationship. I don't take this for granted. Together we will gently begin your process of healing. I will introduce you to tools to help you recover from the wounds of your past, live in the present and look forward to your future.
My treatment modalities include an integrated approach utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Brainspotting, in addition to trauma informed yoga skills and embodied practices, Ego State, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and other evidenced based solutions to help you reach your goals.
I am an approved Healing Tree provider, a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Texas Society for Clinical Social Work, EMDR International, and an active member of the local Brazoria County Mental Health Task Force. I am passionate about serving others with dignity and respect, while reducing attitudinal barriers and stigma to increase access to mental health services.
